Justin: That thing is huge. I got to give it to her. I mean, I wouldn't have done that. My name is Justin. I'm with Terminix. I'm an exterminator for the company. And my specialty is rats. Yeah, that's definitely a rat for sure. Well, for one, I would look at the tail, and I can see that it's longer than the actual body. That to me indicates that it's a roof rat. Look at it. It's trying to—oh. Roof rats, they like to be on high top areas. And this rat here is actually climbing over the sliding door. Roof rats, I mean, like the name implies, they're up in the roofs. A roof rat this big can jump up to 3 feet. Roof rats will jump from trees to your house. So, one recommendation is if they have any trees overhanging onto the roof, obviously trim them down at least 4 feet. That way, they can't jump over. Every year, roof rats cause house fires because of, you know, obviously the damage that they're doing up in the attic. If they chew through the wires, it'll just cause a short, possibly cause a fire. You know, obviously, you don't want your house to burn down. No, most people won't even realize if they have a rat problem because they are nocturnal. So, when you're sleeping, they're out and about. Believe it or not, they can reproduce up to 16 times a year. Two roof rats can turn into 200 if you don't take care of it. One, if you got gaps larger than a quarter, seal them up. Two, keep your food in airtight containers. If you don't, rats will get in and eat it. Three, clean up the rat poop. The way to do it safely: use a vacuum, gloves, and a mask. Four, declutter your house. Not just because it looks good, but so you don't give rats a place to stay. So, if you're trying to catch a rat, please, please don't do it. All you got to do is call us or go online. We'll take care of it for you.
